White pine top
Looking up at tree top

Eight-tenths of a mile up the Marilla Springs Trail from Madeline's Birders' Rest (the gazebo), a trail sign points the way for the newest TVTA path, the White Pine Trail. A small stand of towering, old growth white pines has recently generated much local interest, and many curious hikers have wondered how to locate the pines.

A loop trail to the white pines has been completed. The loop is less than 3 miles long and returns walkers to the Marilla Bridges Trail. The White Pine Trail leaves the Marilla Springs Trail at the confluence of Marilla Brook and Lean-to Run, passes a long-abandoned building foundation, and follows the run upstream to the white pines. After enjoying the old growth trees, hikers can return to the Marilla Springs Trail or moderately climb to walk remnants of old logging roads that lead back to Marilla Reservoir's Bridges Trail.
